PLeASE VOTe FoR mY HaiR

I am getting my hair done this next Monday night and i don't know if i should go light, medium or dark...what is your opinion???
I am the WORST decision maker EVER and each time i go - my stylist just laughs at me b/c i never know what to do. My husband has a strong opinion but i won't tell you in case it will sway your opinion. :)

These first two photos are light (for me).

The bottom photo is one of our engagement photos - where i would consider my hair really dark... (BTW-8 years ago! So funny to look back!).

And the more recent photo at the top of our blog of our family- i would say medium dark (it has a few highlights to soften it).
PLEASE VOTE AT THE TOP RIGHT OF MY BLOG!!!!!!
BE HONEST....
I need help in this HUGE decision!!
Thanks.

My new babies have arrived!!!

AND NO... i haven't adopted new children!!!
But close enough... i think i have as much pride as I would, had i adopted new children!
My garden is slowly becoming fruitful! WAHOOOOOOOOOO!!!
It is our first, so I was trying to be patient and understanding in case things didn't rise to the occasion.
But alas, i am seeing new babies. And they are ooooohhhh so cute!!! It really makes me squeal with love.
These (2) cute little crooked neck squash arrived a couple days ago... they probably are my favorite of all the babies (sorry, i know you shouldn't have favorites!)

The zucchini have taken off and almost taken over! They have been the most plentiful and for the longest time.

Check out this new green pepper (our first). I just discovered her tonight and she made me squeal as well. She is so precious.

This is one of the only two tomatoes from my large tomato plants so far. He is hanging in there (no pun intended).

We have only had 3 of these little guys so far. And they are only about 1 inch long and might have 2 to 3 peas inside, if we are lucky.

This is Ashton's own cherry tomato plant that he got from Granny. It is doing remarkably well. He probably now has 15 or so little cherry tomatoes growing... he is just waiting patiently for them to turn red.

We have had one of our strawberry plants do well. We have probably had 4 or 5 ripe, red, sweet strawberries. They are beauties. So much fun!

The PROGRESSION OF THE GARDEN....

The day we planted... May 8th

June 1st

June 24th (sorry it is a bit dark)
***But as you can tell the garden is flourishing and it is so fun to discover new babies all the time. I'll keep you tabbed on new progressions!! And if you live close by- i think I'll have some zucchini in the near future if you are interested...just stop on by! (I am being serious too...)

"Ashy Mashy Tater Pie...kissed the girls and made them cry"

Odds and Ends of THE BOY...my goofball and my sweetheart.
Preschool Easter Bunny (this is one of those pictures you tease him with when he is older!) He made me rub off the paint on his face before he would go outside and play with his friends.

So proud to have his dad as his coach

Preschool fieldtrip to Wheeler Farm

Eating sushi for his first time... and he loved it (got that one from his dad, NOT his mom!)

Career day at preschool (he wanted to be a policeman so he could help people)

Goofball, as usual.

SENI BENI

Some ODDS and ENDS of PRINCESS SENEKA
Already a heartbreaker...

Her ROYAL HIGHNESS..

Dancing with DaDa

Got into a bit of a dirty mess... but in heaven, of course.

PEEK-A BOO!!!

Ashton and Seneka UPDATES

A quick update on the kids...

ASHTON:

*Ashton learned to tie his shoes a couple of months ago...he practiced and practiced and was dead-set on learning. Proud of my man.

*He also has learned to tell time on his own. He just asked a lot of times what time it was and he figured it out on his own.

*He loves to watch Clifford and Curious George. His favorite movie right now is HOME ALONE

*He enjoys asking me questions with the same scenario all the time such as... "What's more important, mom...leaving the stove on or leaving Seneka in the bath alone?" Or "What's more important, mom...Daddy going to work or me going to my baseball game?" He cracks me up.
* He always tells me that he starts Kindergarten soon and then he will then go to 1st grade, and then 2nd grade, and then 3rd grade, 4th grade, etc..., etc... and i say- NO WAY!! You are not ever going to be that big, i won't let you.... and then he giggles and loves that he is inevitably going to get big and i don't like it! It is so cute.

*He adores his sister and genuinely loves her. He smiles in admiration when she does something funny or cute.

*Has has become a true boy and loves to go play in the dirt and find worms and grasshoppers and make them his pets.

*Enjoys riding his bike and scooter, playing baseball (especially practicing with daddy and having daddy as his coach), and playing with his "weapons" with his friends outside.

SENEKA LEIGH:

*Oh boy! Seneka is a firecracker, pistol, wildwoman, etc... etc.... She is full of it and ALL the time.

*She loves water and she starts undressing and saying "Baaath" whenever we pass a fountain or stream or even a puddle of water.

*She used to play in the toilet water and unroll the toilet paper. But now we have obsessed with always keeping all the bathroom doors closed so she can't go in. So now, when she notices the bathroom door open, she comes and takes our hand and walks us to the bathroom and says "door! door!" until we close it.

*the last few weeks she is talking, talking, talking. She tries to say anything and everything. She says new words every day.

*My favorite (as well as her favorite) word is.... "HI!!!!" She says "hi" all the time and waves and then pats you and gives you a kiss (with the smacking sound of course). When she is doing something naughty and you tell her no - she immediately says "Hi!!!" and pats you and kisses you. She loves to kiss and give loves to all children (even those she doesn't know and sees wherever we may be). She is very loving and really a friendly child. Her favorite person though to love and give kisses to (and sit on his head...literally) is her big brother.

*She is definitely her own individual and is very independent and has a mind of her own. She likes you to let her be and then she is at her happiest. No restrictions or guidelines or rules. She enjoys being "free" and roaming around outside and she thinks she is one of the big kids.

*Oh, we occasionally can't find something we are looking for around the house. We have come to realize that Seni throws stuff in the all the different trash cans around the house. I try to rummage through the garbage before dumping it and i often times will find random things she has decided to get rid of. STINKER!

*She calls me "MUM!" And most often repeats it over and over and doesn't even want an answer. Just likes to say it i guess?! The best is when i am driving in the car and she is in the backseat yelling at me..."Mum, mum, mum, mum!" I try to answer her but she only like to say it to reassure herself or something. She does this with "DAD!" over and over again as well.

*Seneka HAS to use a fork now when she eats...because she is a BIG GIRl, of course! Sometimes i forget to give her one and she has thrown a huge fit and hasn't eaten anything and i didn't realize until later it was probably b/c she didn't have her fork. She is actually very coordinated and stabs whatever she is eating really well.

I love my munchkins!!!!!!!!!!

Ashton graduates!!

Ashton graduated from Preschool!!
We were so proud of our boy! He really has enjoyed it this last year. I think he is really going to love Kindergarten too. He loves to be engaged in things and do activities and he really tries his best to learn new things. He is a good friend to his classmates and is always very accepting of all the kids.
It always made him feel bad because there were 7 girls in his class (and 3 boys) and sometimes the girls would whisper and purposefully leave him out or try to say things to make him feel bad. It just makes you so frustrated and ANGRY as a parent. I have just tried to reiterate to Ashton to make that a lesson to not be that way and to always be everyone's friend. grrrrr..... The sad thing is that this is only the beginning. Kids can just be so mean. I vividly remember myself as a child. You just want to protect your own though. Ashton has such a fun-loving personality though and he is very compassionate to others...so i know he will be just fine. Did i mention that i love this boy?!

Ashton's class

Ashton stood up with full confidence when it was his turn and belted..."I AM ASHTON TROY SCOTT AND I AM A SUPERSTAR!" It really was sweet.

Doing his "trick" of standing on his head...very impressive.
**The graduation was held at a bounce house and the kids were able to bounce after the graduation...it was a fun idea and he loved it!

OUR FIRST GARDEN

Soooooo.....
I got my garden planted!!!
It has been a month or so ago (I'm just behind on my posts). We planted tomatoes, peppers, peas, onions, strawberries, zucchini, squash, corn, cucumbers, watermelon, pumpkins, and herbs (and actually some are still mystery plants that I received from my cute Aunt Gaylia-that she grew in her greenhouse but didn't mark). It has been fun to watch them all grow so much! Even just now looking again at these pictures - i am dying at how BIG everything has gotten since we planted it. It is fun for the kids to watch it all slowly grow. I was grateful for help from both of my mom and mom-in-law. Without them, i would have been completely clueless (well, i still kind of am, actually).

My grandpa (my mom's dad) was a farmer and so my mom used to help him plant as a kid. She remembered always planting the corn and her dad would use the shovel to make a hole and then she would drop in a couple of seeds. It was fun for her to show Ashton this and allow Ashton to help in the planting. I miss my grandpa and his wonderful garden. He passed away while we were living in NYC -3 1/2 years ago. I loved to go down and eat his peas, corn, cucumbers, rhubarb, raspberries, etc... He was so proud...his garden was everything to him...especially as he got older and didn't have a lot of other things to occupy his time. He would wear like 2 or 3 knee pads (stacked on each other) so he could crawl around his garden. We would sit around their table and eat corn-on-the-cob until we were sick. Troy was even a recipient of this many times.

I have taken some photo updates on the garden and i will post them soon!! Be on the lookout!!

HAPPY MUMS DAY!!!!

We had a great Mother's Day this year. My family all came over to our house for dinner. It is fun having our own place now to host functions. And having a backyard and a grill is the BEST! And... having the weather warm up just makes everything better.
I really am SO blessed to have my mom in my life. She drops anything and everything if i ever need her. She brings popscicles over for my kids when they are sick. She is always a listening ear. She is great to call for a quick question about how to do this or that or make this or that. She is very giving and doesn't expect anything in return. And it isn't just me and my family that she is this way for. She is a great person and I am so fortunate I got her for my mom!

And I have recently given kudos to my mom-in-law on the blog...but she really is a blessing in our lives as well. She has so many talents and is happy to share all she knows. She is a great gardener and knows all the tricks and she is a great cook and sometimes even creates her own masterpieces. She stops by occasionally to check on my yard and garden or to help me clean it up a bit b/c she really cares and wants to help us. She is a wonderful Omi to our kids and they adore her. Troy loves to tease his mom but really he is such a mommas boy and loves her very much.

Spring dresses

As I have mentioned many times before, Seneka is not the best picture-taker. She avoids me like the plague when she sees the camera coming out. However, this day she posed and grinned and smiled for me. I was giddy with excitement to get some great shots of her in her new dress. She is such a beauty!

We are so lucky to have a grandma that is a seamstress. Aside from all the last minute hemming and fixes she does on occasion for us and also all the jammies, blankets and bibs for the kids (oh, and remember the bedding too)...Sylvia has made Seneka both of these adorable spring dresses. I could tell Seni felt like a little princess...and she looked adorable.
Sylvia, thanks again for these dresses..we LOVE them!

BALL or WEE-WEE?

Today Ashton brought our mail in after the postman dropped it off. There was only one advertisement he had in his hand. I asked him..."Is that all we got in the mail?" He said "Yes, i think so. Is our mailbox the one with the ball on it or the one with the wee-wee?" I had to look outside for it all to come together. I had myself a nice little laugh.
I love my boy!
