Ice Skating

Ashton and his friend, Katherine

We were excited to learn about this new ice skating rink that opened just down the road from our apartment. The only other time Ashton had been ice skating was when he was 2 years old @ the rink in Central Park. To be honest, i thought he would be freezing and wouldnt even enjoy it this time around. But to our surprise, he LOVED it! He didnt want to leave. And it was freezing out!!! Ash even stood all alone on the ice without help and then he would hold onto the side and skate that way by himself. Daddy was a big help and would help hold him up as well. He saw his friend, Katherine, from his school and she didnt need any help and skated freely all by herself...I think this gave him a little bit of confidence and hope. What a big boy!!! Unfortunately, mommy was due with the baby very soon and couldnt join the boys on the ice.

Ashton's school Pajama holiday party

Ashton got to wear his pajamas to school for his Christmas party. He loves to do crafts and he was able to decorate a paper wreath, make an ice cream cone Christmas tree and also decorate wrapping paper to take home. Everyone brought a food item and so they had lots of fun snacks to eat as well. In addition, each child brought a gift to exchange with another child. It was a lot of fun!!

I was so flattered and honored that my friends from my ward gave me a baby shower. It was so sweet of them. It was a lot of fun to get together just the ladies, outside of church. The activity they had was darling... they had these onesies and then cute iron-on designs to put on the onesies. It was perfect!!

Ashton's Pre-k class had "Breakfast with Santa." Mom came along to help out and take pictures of each of the kids with Santa. They got to go into the school's cafeteria and had pancakes, eggs and sausage and then after they got to sit on Santa's lap. Ashton got a stuffed animal from Santa that he decided to save for the baby when she arrived. He wrapped it up and brought it to the hospital for her after she was born.

NYU hospital's "Sibling class"

Reading a book about getting a new baby

Listening very intently

We were having the baby in Manhattan at NYU hospital. They offered a sibling class for children to better aquaint themselves with the hospital where their brother or sister would be born. I thought it was a cute idea! They watched a video and read a book about new babies. Ashton was very excited to see the nursery and also see where mommy would be staying after the baby. Previously Ashton was worried about me being away from him at the hospital b/c he would miss me.
